I. Jessica Chin discussed the various types of weapons used in Mali.

A. members answered questions

B. the fun part came: making weapons out of cardboard!

1. given only 15 minutes with a pair of scissors and a pic of the weapon

2. members used their imagination

C. took pictures and most of the weapons turned out really nice esp the swords and bow and arrow

II. Posted up were the names of members who did the most volunteer hours!

A. monthly members who did eight or more hours of volunteer receives a certificate and an official Bwb sticker!

1. Ms. Bower and Mr. Hoffman presented the awards and Rennie took pictures.

B. Congrats to Maya, she had the most hours! about 120+

C. and good job to the rest of you guys! we're proud

I. Played Mafia to relax

A. very few people knew how to play the game so the officers taught them.

1. the game consists of "God",citizens, 6 Mafia members, and 6 police officers

2. the Mafia gets to kill one citizen each round and the police officers try to catch the Mafia members.

3. after the sleep, anyone could acuse each other of being a Mafia member

B. the first round took awhile but eventually everyone got the hang of it

1. it was fun to acuse someone of being the Mafia

II. Volunteer opportunites

A. Renew the Zoo- Saturday Jan 14 from 8-11 am.

B. Seniors' Emergency Grocery Bag Program

1. Monday ( MLK day) Jan 16 at 9 am.

C. Lunar New Year volunteer from the Friends of the Urban Forest

D. try to come to at least 1 volunteer event since it is a 3day weekend

III. The holiday cards that the club members drew were sent to the Jewish Home.

A. the eldery were every grateful for a little holiday cheer- Thank you so much for those who made a card!

A. We had a "chat" with our club members about what they did over the break.

D. The main part came: the questioning of why some club members do not show up

at the volunteer events even though they signed up

1. is it because of the transportation? the timing of the events? or is it just

because of the volunteer events?!

2. many club members opened up but there was no sure way of compromising
